School of Business to Debut New Spanish-Language Global Executive MBA Program
U.S. Classes Designed for Senior Executives in Latin America

Coral Gables, Fla. – March 21, 2011 – The University of Miami School of Business Administration today announced a new Spanish-language Global Executive MBA program designed for senior business executives working in or doing business with Latin America. The program is an expansion of the School’s successful Master of Science in Professional Management/Executive MBA program (MSPM/EMBA), which was launched 15 years ago as the first Spanish-language Executive MBA program to be delivered by a U.S. business school. Like its predecessor, the Global EMBA program will be taught on the main campus by the same world class faculty who teach in the School’s other MBA programs. It is expected to similarly draw students from across Latin America.

The University of Miami School of Business, with its internationally diverse faculty, strategic location, and strong ties to the international business community, has an important role to play in the development of business leaders across Latin America and in helping to foster the region’s economic growth,” said Frances Aldrich Sevilla-Sacasa, interim dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration.  “The Global Executive MBA program is part of our continuing commitment to serve as Latin America’s leading partner for management education and other programs that promote our shared interests in economic prosperity.”

The Global Executive MBA program enables professionals to enhance their business knowledge, improve their management skills and strategic decision-making abilities, and expand their professional network through close interaction with a select group of accomplished business leaders from all over the Americas.

The program consists of seven two-week sessions taught over 18 months. Six sessions are held on the School’s main campus in Miami.  One session, an international study module, takes place outside of the U.S. The first class, which begins in November 2011, will include an international study trip to Spain.

In addition to the Global EMBA program, the School offers three certificate programs taught in Spanish. These include a Certificate in Administration and Business for the Executive Manager (CABEM) program, a Certificate in Logistics and Transportation for the Executive Manager (CELTEM), and a Certificate in Innovation and Competiveness Management for the Executive Manager (CISMEN).

“More than 700 professionals, including the top executives of multinational firms and senior government officials, have graduated from the School’s Spanish language executive programs in the past 15 years,” said Anuj Mehrotra,” the School’s vice dean for faculty affairs and graduate business programs. “Further illustrating our commitment to Latin America and the Caribbean is our new English-language Executive MBA program in Puerto Rico, which we launched in 2009.”
