The Department of Accounting consists of full-time faculty members, and highly trained professionals from the Miami business and legal community who teach specialized courses where their specific expertise and experience is of particular benefit.
RESEARCH
Consistent with our goal of making intellectual contributions to the academic and professional communities, the department encourages and expects publications in the leading outlets for each faculty member’s specialization. Accordingly, our faculty has published articles in top academic and professional journals as well as numerous textbooks and case studies (refer to the faculty directory for more information about the faculty).
TEACHING
Our faculty members teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Graduate programs include the Master of Professional Accounting program and the Master of Science in Taxation program, as well as the school’s MBA programs. Our faculty members have won many awards for teaching excellence at the school and university levels.
SERVICE
Our faculty members maintain an active presence in the professional and business communities. Examples include past President of the American Taxation Association, academic member on the Standing Advisory Group of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), senior editor of the Accounting Educators’ Journal, and member of the International Accounting Standards Revision Committee for Spanish language standards. This presence is supplemented with professional acumen as most faculty members hold one or more of the following professional designations: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
