MBA Consultants to Nonprofits Program

The School’s MBA Consultants to Nonprofits Program is a summer internship program linking MBAs with area nonprofits. It provides MBA students with valuable experience solving business problems and building their networks, promotes a spirit of engagement and community service, and reinforces the idea of businesses and the community working together for mutual benefit.

MBA students spend 10 weeks advising nonprofit organizations on basic business applications ranging from accounting and financial planning to supporting human resource and marketing functions. The students receive a stipend for their work as well as the satisfaction of seeing their labor have tangible effects almost immediately.

In early fall, at the conclusion of the internship, students present their summer projects and business plans to the organization’s directors and a panel of corporate executives.  This formal event offers students another opportunity to build their network and develop their presentation skills.

Each year, more than 20 students and 20 nonprofits apply to participate in the program, which is sponsored by Adam Carlin, MBA ‘94, managing director of the Bermont/Carlin Group, a Morgan Stanley affiliate, and the School's Business Ethics Program.
